Contigo Water Bottle Recall

Posted on: 02/20/2020

Yesterday Contigo recalled Contigo Kids Cleanable water bottles due to choking hazard. In these models of Contigo water bottles, the clear silicone spout has detached from the lid. There have been a total of 427 reports of the spout detaching of which 27 of those incidents describe the spout being found in children's mouths. This piece of silicone could get caught in a child's throat and block their airway making it difficult or impossible to breathe.

This water bottle had a previous recall in August 2019 for the same concern in which replacement lids were provided by Contigo. The replacement lids from the August 2019 have also been deemed unsafe. Therefore, consumers should immediately stop using the original recalled model and also the replacement lids from the prior recall.

The affected models of Contigo water bottles have a black spout base and a black spout cover. They were sold at Costco, Walmart, Target and online websites from April 2018-February 7, 2020.

Consumers are encouraged to contact Contigo for a new water bottle:
